Born
in Washington DC, David Truex founded David Truex and Company in London
in 1990 after having practised as a barrister and solicitor in Australia
since 1974. In 1999, with the addition of lawyers from Australia,
Germany and the USA, he established International Family Law Chambers.
He has a working knowledge of German and French. David Truex is a
family law specialist accredited by Resolution.
He is regularly instructed by other lawyers from around the world to give expert advice in complex international cases, and has several credits in the law reports in this capacity. Pro-active in family law reform, he initiated the first family mediation and lawyer specialist accreditation programs in Australia. He is a former Chairman of the Family Law Section of the Law Institute of Victoria. International forum disputes and cross-jurisdiction enforcement of orders are his principal fields of practice. In England, he is a member of the International Committee and the Specialist Accreditation Committee of Resolution, and chaired the International Committee for three years until March 2003. He is also a member of the Law Council of Australia, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts and the American Bar Association. He was Chairman of the UK Host Committee of the 2001 World Congress on Family Law and the Rights of Children and Youth, which was held at Bath, England 19-22 September, 2001. He writes for law journals in the United Kingdom and Australia and has presented papers at family law conferences in Australia, England, Ireland, Germany and Italy. David Truex is a direct descendant of Philip du Trieux, one of the founders of Nieu Amsterdam (later New York) in 1624. One of these days he is going to reclaim Philip's 44 acre farm just north of Wall Street. Back to lawyers page |
