Lorna Samuels LL.B (Hons)
Accredited Specialist Family Lawyer
Solicitor (England and Wales) - (non-practising)

Lorna Samuels qualified as a solicitor in 1987 after completing her law degree at Southampton University. Her experience covers a broad range of family law matters, with particular expertise in "big money" divorce, emergency procedures and inheritance claims.

In 1998, after 11 years of family law practice, eight as a partner with the highly regarded Tunbridge Wells firm of Thomson, Snell & Passmore, Lorna moved to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. She was then appointed Human Rights Adviser for the Council of Europe, stationed in Pristina, Kosovo, during the height of the troubles there. Lorna joined International Family Law Chambers in November 2000.

With her combined family law and human rights experience, Lorna has a unique insight into the implications of the Human Rights Act 1998, which came into effect in the United Kingdom on 2 October 2000.

Lorna is in the Who's who in the Law (Legal 500).

Lorna is an accredited specialist family lawyer with Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Association). She is a trained mediator with the Family Mediators Association and is a former member of the Law Society's International Human Rights Committee.

Lorna has trained with Resolution as a collaborative family lawyer, and has set up a practice group of collaborative lawyers in London, www.londoncollaborativelawyers.com. Lorna is also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Lorna believes her interest in international relations may be inherited. She is a descendant of Dr David Livingstone, the nineteenth century explorer of Africa.
